In modern society it seems that, while all may appear to be well on the surface, many of us experience a subtle feeling of discontent, and lack of self-assurance. Freedom in Love has been designed to explore the reasons for these feelings, and work on ways of resolving them.
At its foundation is the idea that genuine confidence, freedom, and inner peace arise more naturally as a result of embracing universal compassion, presence, and love. In this context the word presence is used to denote a state of openness and positive acceptance of what is so. Not a fatalistic acceptance, which would lead to a flat feeling of resignation, but a holistic acceptance in which constructive choices can be made with confidence and enthusiasm.
It is intended that the course should appeal regardless of religious or spiritual background. Whilst some of the inspiration was drawn from eastern philosophies, it is not presented as a spiritual teaching. The emphasis is on inner transformation, leading to the freedom to forge ahead on one's own path with renewed confidence, vision, and an open heart.

Freedom in Love is an exploration of the sources of true happiness and freedom. With insights from eastern philosophy and western science this workshop is based on the idea that genuine freedom, inner peace and happiness arise more naturally as a result of embracing universal compassion and presence.

In this context the word presence is used to denote a state of openness and positive acceptance of what is so. Not a fatalistic acceptance, which would lead to a flat feeling of resignation, but a liberating, holistic acceptance, in which we are freed from the stress of resistance to what is so, and better able to avail ourselves of possibilities that may otherwise remain hidden from view.

Compassion has been shown to increase happiness and reduce stress.   Empathy, and an understanding of the role of ignorance in unconstructive behaviour, can help us in the cultivation of compassion.  When we combine this with the practice of presence we begin to feel the joy of liberation. The more we practice, the greater becomes our experience of liberation.

It is intended that the course should be accessible regardless of religious or spiritual background. Whilst some of the inspiration was drawn from eastern philosophies, it is not presented as a spiritual teaching. The emphasis is on inner transformation, leading to the freedom to forge ahead on one's own path with renewed confidence, vision, and an open heart.
